When Mom Becomes a Green-Faced Alien 🌧️👽✨

There’s something about the last day of holiday break that guarantees chaos. It’s cold. 🥶 It’s wet. 🌧️ School starts tomorrow, and my house is teetering on the edge of "holiday tornado meets craft store explosion." 🎄🎨 So, what do we do? We grab the window chalk. ✍️🖌️ Yes, the kind meant to jazz up car windows for football games 🏈🚗, and we turn our windows into masterpieces—or in my case, alien landscapes. 👽🛸
Brittany was the picture of holiday spirit 🎉, sketching dreamy rainbows 🌈, fluffy clouds ☁️, and majestic horses 🐴. I was soaking it all in, thinking, Wow, I’ve really nailed this parenting moment. 💁♀️✨ And then, Blake took his turn. 😏
"Look, Mom! It’s YOU!" he announced proudly, stepping aside to reveal a…let’s call it creative interpretation of my face. 😳 I blinked. It was me, but green. 💚 And I had antennas. 📡👽
“Blake, honey,” I started cautiously, “Why do I look like…uh, an alien?”
“Because I messed up your eyes,” 👀 he replied, as if that was the most obvious answer in the world. 🤷♂️ Clearly, the only solution to botched eyes is to add green skin and some otherworldly vibes. 🛸✨
Honestly, by the time he was done, I looked like I was about to beam up the furniture 🛋️ and declare war on the family dog. 🐶 Brittany, ever the cheerleader 📣, said, “Mom, I think you look cool!” (Traitor. 😒)
By the end of our indoor art session, our house looked like it belonged in a Pixar movie 🎥🎨. The windows? A colorful mix of whimsical clouds ☁️, horse rainbows 🌈🐴, and one VERY green-faced mom-alien waving to the neighbors. 👽👋 I can only hope they understand we’re creative, not certifiable. 🙃
So, if you’re wondering how to survive a rainy, cold day before school starts 🏫🌧️, I highly recommend window chalk. ✏️ Bonus points if you let your kids transform you into something unrecognizably hilarious. 😂 Trust me, it’s better than sitting on the couch wondering if you can sneak chocolate out of the pantry without anyone noticing. 🍫👀
Here’s to surviving another holiday break—antenna and all. 🛸👩👧👦💚
